Bill McBride Subaru has the largest inventory of new Subaru's in northern New York. We have the newest state-of-the-art facility in the Northeast allowing us to provide excellent service to our Canadian friends. We are conveniently located 20 minutes south of the Champlain border crossing.

Many of our Canadian Customers have questions regarding the process of importing a new Subaru into Canada. That is why we have created a Frequently Asked Questions section to answer some of those questions.

Will the Subaru I purchase meet all standards required in Canada?

-Yes. No additional modifications are required to any of the Subaru models.

How does the warranty work?

-You are covered under the Subaru of America Warranty. You have two options for warranty repairs. One, you can return to the U.S. to a Subaru dealer to handle your warranty repairs. Two, you can have your warranty repairs done by a Subaru dealer in Canada and pay for the repairs in full at the time of service. You then will submit the bill to Subaru of America for reimbursement for those warranty repairs.

What are the taxes and fees I will have to pay?

-You will pay the Sale Price of your new Subaru in Certified American Funds which will include all the documentation fees. You DO NOT pay sales tax in the United States for the purchase of your vehicle. Subaru models manufactured in North America are Duty Free. Subaru models manufactured outside of North America are subject to a duty of 6.1%. You pay your PST and GST taxes in Canada. There is also a $100 fee for vehicles equipped with air conditioning.

How many trips will I need to make?

-Just one to pick up your new Subaru! We can handle all paperwork and processes via phone, email, fax, and overnight carrier.

What do I need to purchase a Subaru from Bill McBride?

-We will need a copy of your drivers license, passport, and payment in full for the vehicle in Certified American Funds. We will also need confirmation from your Insurance Broker that the vehicle has coverage.
